“We believe planning your trip should be almost as fun as the trip itself

Whether it is a week’s vacation, a business trip or a weekend getaway, we believe planning your trip should be almost as fun as the trip itself. We believe the best advice comes from people you trust – people like you – and not from anonymous strangers on the internet. We believe sharing your experiences should be as simple as touching the screen on your phone. We are passionate about technology and design and their power to reshape our world for the better.”

Gogobot Makes Foursquare and Facebook Check-ins Travel-Worthy

Gogobot is a travel website that makes it easy for people to find and get recommendations from friends about what to do and where to stay while traveling in specific destinations. People can ask a question to their friends on Gogobot or ask all their Facebook friends and Gogobot pulls the answers back and organizes the information into a travel plan, with the addresses, phone numbers and other information about specific attractions, restaurants, hotels, and the like.

Gogobot basically does what services like TripAdvisor should have already been doing–giving you reviews of travel destinations from your trusted friends, rather than having you rely on the advice of strangers. It’s something that Yelp has done for local businesses, though Yelp is not as much a travel service.

Columbus Ohio Rated High As A Travel Destination For LGBT

Columbus is widely known as an open and inviting community and a leading Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender destination.

This weekend, 14 leading LGBT travel writers from Canada and around the U.S.  toured Columbus for story ideas. – Best Gay Cites  was one of them!

Experience Columbus  hosted the group of writers who  visited local attractions, dining at area restaurants, and checking out the shopping and nightlife. Saturday night, the group was at the Short North Gallery Hop where the arches are lit in rainbow colors to welcome the guests.

Columbus should be extremely proud of itself for the way that Gay and Lesbian people feel welcomed in this community and city,” said Matt Mills who writes for Extra, a Toronto-based publication. “I would come back any time and would not hesitate to recommend it as a destination to Canadian travelers in the Gay community.”

“It was an amazing fun time and very eye-opening,” said Michael Snell from NewGayTravelGuide.com , “this city has a lot to offer  on so many levels and we are so happy to be here.”

Watch for lots of articles in the coming weeks on Gay Columbus Ohio!

Pacifica California Waterfront Lodging Just Minutes South of San Francisco

 CALIFORNIA
is perhaps the most beautiful state we have in the US – at least in my opinion.

You can travel from Northern to Southern and see so many spectacular areas. San Francisco is often rated one of the most popular tourist destinations for both straight and gay travelers. And one of my favorite trips is fly into SF, stay a couple days, then rent a car and drive down the coast stopping in various cities along the way!

Courtney Conlon, CEO of the Pacifica Chamber of Commerce announced today the launch of the new Visit Pacifica website (Visitpacifica.com), as the seaside community embarks on a marketing plan to promote Pacifica as a destination for travelers.

Seeking to increase tourism, business and residential opportunities, Pacifica provides the only waterfront lodging opportunities in the immediate San Francisco area and a plethora of affordable and outdoor activities suited to visitors near and far.

“We are so pleased to get the word out to a broader audience about Pacifica, said Conlon.  “We are a true coastal gem located just 15 minutes south of San Francisco and the airport, yet our visitors say they feel worlds away and right at home when they are here.  We like to think of ourselves as the first doorway to serenity from San Francisco, with so many outdoor adventures – from hiking and biking to surfing, and golfing, making us a destination for visitors of all ages and interests.”

With the “staycation” trend in travel and tourism continuing to rise, Pacifica provides a home away from home for Bay Area residents and visitors alike.  Its rich cultural heritage and bohemian-esque personality make it an original destination worth uncovering.  Pacifica’s vibrant and unique offerings and natural beauty make it a haven for locals and travelers alike.  Its diverse and affordable lodging, dining and entertaining options offer a wonderful opportunity to travelers considering a serene locale to relax and spend time with family and friends.

“We are really pleased to share Pacifica’s message with the larger community, and let more people know about our wonderful city,” said Mayor Mary Ann Nihart.  “We hope to share the natural beauty and our wonderful community with many visitors and potential businesses and residents.”

The new branding campaign will promote all the elements that make Pacifica a special destination for visitors near and far.  Along with the launch of the Visit Pacifica website, the Chamber employed Mana Brand Marketing to create the unique personification of a mermaid as its new logo, beckoning travelers to this ethereal enclave.  The logo reflects Pacifica’s historic identity and calls travelers to enjoy the beauty of its seaside location.  The mermaid has been utilized since the 1950’s to promote the town’s local Fog Festival, and throughout its history.

Pacifica’s rich history began

during the same 1769 expedition that founded the entire San Francisco Bay.  Led by Gaspar de Portol of Balaguer, Catalonia, Spain, the expedition came across the same Mediterranean climate and fertile farmland that later beckoned immigrants from Ireland and Italy.  A thriving vegetable farming area soon produced the largest artichoke crop in the country in the 1890s.  Today, Portol remains Pacifica’s Sister City.   The very name Pacifica means “peace” in Spanish, and lends itself to the ethereal natural surroundings of hills and beaches.

Whether taking in the view from an oceanfront room in Pacifica’s beachside hotels, watching the sun set over a candlelit dinner or experiencing the vast beauty of the area from atop one of Pacifica’s many cliffs, there are many unforgettable experiences, historical treasures and spectacular walking and hiking trails to explore.  With delicious restaurants and cafes, comfortable hotels and unique shops, there is something for everyone in Pacifica.

** San Francisco has a Gay Bowling League – and according to their Facebook page bowl at Sea Bowl in Pacifica, CA at 7:30 PM on Monday nights!

Descend to the beach, where the sand is white as sugar, the water that aqua-emerald-who-knows-what-color-to-call-it-but-it’s-amazing hue that you’ll find only in the Caribbean.” Read the full story on Curacao!

Demise of the Gay Neighborhoods? LGBT folks Assimilating More

A couple years ago there was a great book Greetings From the Gayborhood: A Look Back at the Golden Age of Gay Neighborhoods  …

From the Castro to Chelsea, Greetings From the Gayborhood, celebrates twelve traditionally gay neighborhoods in America, past and present. Featuring archival images along with nostalgic and sometimes kitschy ephemera (bar ads, event programs, matchbooks, flyers, and more) this scrapbook-style collection is the perfect souvenir for where the boys are and were.

Donald F. Reuter has chronicled the evolution of gay neighborhoods in twelve cities—Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, Fort Lauderdale, Los Angeles, New Orleans, New York City, Philadelphia, San Diego, San Francisco, Seattle, and Washington DC—and studied how gentrification has affected them and their role in the greater community. Greetings From the Gayborhood is a spirited and sexy time capsule that celebrates the history, creativity, and longevity of gay America.

According to the gay-oriented travel guide Damron’s, the number of self-described gay bars and clubs in the U.S. has dropped 13 percent since 2005.

The reason is that as gay people report feeling more accepted by society, many feel less need to self-segregate…but also, there are more of us now!

There was also a recent article on REDISTRICTING and how we will affect that.

I think we will always have gay neighborhoods, but as more and more gays people come out, more and more of us blend and assimilate. WE ARE EVERYWHERE!

Gay Travel to Egypt, Tunisia and the Maldives, BEWARE!

Countries where homosexual acts are a criminal offence are to be added to Germany’s list of travel warnings for tourists, the government told parliament Tuesday.

The Foreign Ministry said there were 55 nations where visitors potentially faced prosecution for homosexual acts.

These include popular tourist destinations such as Egypt, Tunisia and the Maldives. It said travel advisories would be revised to take account of those laws.

China, Iran and Saudi Arabia were also on the list.

The ministry said German nationals had been arrested on suspicion of homosexual acts in Morocco, Gambia, Ghana and Lebanon since 2007, and four had received prison terms in Morocco.

Some countries, such as Australia and Brazil, actively advertise to gay tourists, promoting themselves as destinations for same-sex romance.

KNOW BEFORE YOU GO! You don’t want to be arrested in foreign lands, trust me!

GAY HAWAII…..Maui SunSeeker Expands

Most resort destinations really have two gay communities, and Maui is no different. The local community tends to socialize in their own ‘family’ in private homes, informal groups or a weekly excursion to the beach. Although the local community is typically low-key, there are fundraisers and social events happening often, and visitors are always welcome.

The other gay group on Maui is made up of vacationing singles or couples, many of whom return to the island every year. The scene on Maui isn’t focused so much on high energy or heavy cruising but more on enjoying the incredible beauty found here.

Whichever group you identify with, you’ll find lots of opportunities to have fun, participate in activities and mix with the locals. Information on current local gay activities can be found online at Mauigayinfo.com.

From its heavenly beaches to its scenic natural wonders, there are plenty of reasons why Maui has been voted “Best Island” by readers of Conde Nast Traveler for more than a dozen years.

The second largest island in the Hawaiian chain, Maui is 48 miles long and 26 miles across with a land area of 729 square miles.  But into that space is packed long, sandy beaches, tropical rainforests, rolling green pasture lands, dryland forests, and spectacular rocky cliffs.

Maui’s average temperature is between 75 and 85 degrees.  In one day you can huddle at the top of Haleakala Crater watching a sunrise in 40 degree weather, sit on the sand at Kihei enjoying the tradewinds at noon, and watch the sun set in the west in the cooler evenings.

Maui Sunseeker LGBT Resort is the place on Maui where you can feel free to be yourself.  Welcoming all, but catering primarily to the gay and lesbian traveler, we are the largest gay owned and operated hotel in Hawaii serving the gay and lesbian market.

Located in Kihei, on Maui’s beautiful south shore, Maui Sunseeker is the perfect place for gorgeous Pacific Ocean views, seasonal whale watching and magical Maui Sunsets.

Currently in an expansion plan to grow the resort from 17 guests rooms to 30 rooms during 2011.  “We have exciting plans for the two new properties we have acquired that are adjacent to the current resort and one comes complete with a swimming pool.”

Come enjoy the view from your lanai or from their rooftop tanning deck.  Take a moonlit stroll or early morning walk along four mile long Mai Poina ‘Oe La’u Beach, just steps from your door at Maui Sunseeker LGBT Resort!

IF YOU ARE AROUND THIS WEEKEND…..

They are celebrating  the Grand Opening of the New Sugar Beach Building 600! Poolside  full suites  and  more!

Want to convince yourself to get to Maui?
Check out the
Maui SunSeeker webcam!

Installed by Bump Networks, the HD technology is amazing. Not only can you control the camera for 2 minutes at a time by clicking on ‘Control’, you can move the tabs at the top to swing the camera left and right.

Best Friends Animal Sanctuary in Utah

On any given day, there are about 1,700 dogs, cats and other animals living at the Best Friends sanctuary, in Kanab UTAH. This is the nation’s largest animal sanctuary. Everything from bunnies and parrots to horses and pigs!  They come for special care from shelters and rescue groups all across the country. Many of them just need a few weeks of special care before they’re ready to go to good new homes with loving families.

(The city of Kanab, county seat of Kane County, is often called “Little Hollywood” because of its film-making history over the years.

This town of 4,300 sits at the hub of the southwest’s national parks and offers exciting vacation opportunities year round. Kanab is located seven miles north of the Arizona border on U.S. Alternate 89, and is centrally located between Las Vegas, NV, Phoenix, AZ, Albuquerque, NM, Denver, CO and Salt Lake City, UT.)

The animals come to the sanctuary from far and wide. “But once they’re here, we make sure that nothing bad will ever happen to them again.

But there are also those who are the outcasts of society – unwanted, lame, too traumatized by past abuse, or too old, handicapped, or ill. For these lovable, innocent creatures, Best Friends is a unique home and haven. There’s just nothing else like it anywhere. “

PLAN A VISIT, TAKE A TOUR and/or VOLUNTEER!

OUT GAY ARTIST ARI GOLD on Gay Marriage

As a fourth generation New Yorker I am so proud to see Marriage Equality happen in my lifetime in the place where gay liberation was born.

As someone who grew up as an orthodox Jew its  also great to see other people from religious communities understand that this is not a religious issue but an issue of civil rights.

New York is where gay liberation in this country began so it only makes sense for New York to be one of the first states to make marriage equality a reality.   And for this to pass during gay pride—it is truly a day to feel proud of being a New Yorker and American on the right side of history.”

Ari Gold/Singer, Writer, Performer and Gay Activist

Highly accomplished and openly gay pop artist Sir Ari Gold is a buzz worthy, subculture celebrity in his own right, quickly winning over critics far beyond the reach of the LGBT community.

Shortly after the release of his captivating and controversial “Make My Body Rock” single, Ari releases the second single off his fourth studio album Between the Spirit & the Flesh.  “Sparkle” emerged with instant interest-catching soul and flavor.  The track features Sarah Dash of Labelle (Patti Labelle and Nona Hendrix) to add a powerhouse female vocal that plays well with Ari’s range and strength.

This self-empowerment anthem is a rallying cry against bullies, but most importantly one’s own view of self-worth.  The music video is directed by acclaimed visual artist and HIV/AIDS activist Duane Cramer.  Making cameo appearances in the “Sparkle” music video are underground NYC superstars, LadyFag, Stephan Keating, Mila Jam, Laverne Cox (from VH-1’s Transform Me) and even Sir Ari’s mother.

As the mainstream catches up to this pioneering recording and performing artist’s future-forward genius, “Sparkle” continues Sir Ari’s unwavering commitment to LGBT rights and equality.

“There are some out gay artists who want to sort of push aside their sexuality,” he continues, “and that makes them more palatable to straight people. You’ve got to deal with the fact that I do actually like to have sex with men. I’m not just some funny, campy entertainer for straight people to laugh at.”   (Read more of this interview from 2004.)

The NYU and Yale-educated Gold has been doing the national pride circuit  — he is promoting his new album but also  celebrating  his connection with his gay fans.  –  This week he is ST PETERSBERG and  October in ATLANTA!

Louisville and Lexington Gay Kentucky

For decades, Kentucky has battled the sort of image problem that, by comparison, would make Jesse James and Tiger Woods look like Disney princes. Think rednecks, hillbillies and all manner of people who treat family reunions like singles bars.  Did you watch JUSTIFIED on FX?

Every year in May, all eyes fall upon Kentucky’s pastoral Bluegrass region. During the first week of the month, the city of Louisville holds the Kentucky Derby, the most celebrated Thoroughbred racing event in the country. But from spring clear through late autumn, it’s a fine time for touring the hilly, verdant swatch of northern Kentucky that includes the state’s two largest cities, Louisville and Lexington. Despite the region’s generally conservative demeanor, Louisville has a growing core of hip neighborhoods, an increasingly locavore-driven restaurant scene, first-rate arts and culture, and one of the world’s largest gay nightclubs. And collegiate Lexington – just 75 miles away – makes a charming base for exploring nearby horse farms and acclaimed small-batch bourbon distilleries.

LOUISVILLE is A large, modern metropolis (city-county population 721,000) on Kentucky’s Ohio River border with Indiana.

Louisville excels when it comes to the arts, with respected opera and ballet companies, the highly regarded Louisville Orchestra, and the Actors Theatre of Louisville, which hosts the acclaimed Humana Festival of New American Plays every spring. Many major musical and dramatic events are staged at the Kentucky Center for the Performing Arts.

Due south of downtown, Old Louisville is an impressive neighborhood of Victorian mansions bordered by the sprawling campus of the University of Louisville, which enrolls around 20,000 students. The school’s Speed Art Museum has fine collections of American antiques and art by both European and American masters. Not far from here you’ll also find the world-famous Churchill Downs, site of the Kentucky Derby – a museum here traces the history of this renowned event.

Many of the city’s most gay-popular eateries are on Bardstown Road, including the community’s favorite java joint, Days Espresso (dayscoffee.com), a two-room space with local art and great coffee. Also along this stretch is Lilly’s (www.lillyslapeche.com), where you can sample such contemporary regional American specialties as catfish spring rolls with Asian dipping sauce, and locally farmed pork confit and braised shoulder.

SAN FRANCISCO Says NO to Male Circumcision

A proposal to ban the circumcision of male children in San Francisco has been cleared to appear on the November ballot, setting the stage for the nation’s first public vote on what has long been considered a private family matter.

But even in a city with a long-held reputation for pushing boundaries, the measure is drawing heavy fire. Opponents are lining up against it, saying a ban on a religious rite considered sacred by Jews and Muslims is a blatant violation of constitutional rights.

If the measure passes, circumcision would be prohibited among males under the age of 18. The practice would become a misdemeanor offense punishable by a fine of up to $1,000 or up to one year in jail. There would be no religious exemptions.

The proposed ban appears to be the first in the country to make it this far, though a larger national debate over the health benefits of circumcision has been going on for many years. Banning circumcision would almost certainly prompt a flurry of legal challenges alleging violations of the First Amendment’s guarantee of the freedom to exercise one’s religious beliefs.

Supporters of the ban say male circumcision is a form of genital mutilation that is unnecessary, extremely painful and even dangerous. They say parents should not be able to force the decision on their young child.

Get a Backstage pass with Priscialla’s NICK ADAMS for a $500 donation to the NYC AIDS WALK

We just saw PRISCILLA on Broadway  this week!  WOW!  What an eye-popping, show-stopping performance!  Everyone does a fantastic job, but of course, our heart has always belonged to Nick Adams, since I first saw him onstage in 2005.

We’ll be covering it more in a couple weeks, and catching up with the ever adorable, super-talented Nick Adams with an interview  on our sister site   BestGayNewYork.com, in the coming weeks!

But for now, you should know,  will be singing at the kick off of the 2011 AIDS Walk NY on May 15th!

And Nick is walking and raising money again this year.  Nick is part of the BROADWAY IMPACT group which is a community of actors, directors, stage managers, fans, producers — pretty much anyone who has ever seen, been in or worked on a Broadway show — united by the simple belief that anyone who wants to should be able to get married.
“We’re  very proud to be apart of the 2011 NY Aids Walk!”

Nick gives, and gives and gives whenever he can to great causes like Broadway Bares and AIDS WALK NY.  (He has even been crowned Broadway Hero by GayLifeNYC.org.)  “I enjoy giving my time to great causes, and it makes me feel good to know I can help in some way.”

Nick sent us this note, to share with our readers….He had a goal of raising $3000  originally.  He is almost at  $20,000!!!!   And there are just a few days left to raise money!

Thanks for everyone who donated after my last e-mail for AIDS Walk NYC! I was able to break my original goal of $3,000 and am now the #1 fundraiser from the cast! Thanks!

I wanted to up the stakes and see if we could get some more folks giving. If you’ve ever dreamt about getting a backstage tour of Priscilla from me, this is your chance. For every person that gives $500 or more, I will arrange to give you a personal backstage tour. Simply get tickets to the show of your choice and I’ll meet you after the show and give you a private tour. Some people have been paying $5,000 – $10,000 to get backstage tours, so to be able to get one in exchange for a tax deductible dontation of only $500, is AMAZING.

Since we reached my personal goal of raising $3,000 I will pick one lucky subscriber to recieve an autographed program from the show.

If we hit $6,000 I will send out 5 autographed programs, and if we break $15,000 I will send someone special a program / poster autographed by everyone in the entire cast!

Additionally, anyone donating $500 or more, I will send them an autographed program (simply email us a proof of donation along with your shipping address) AND I WILL GIVE THEM A PRIVATE BACKSTAGE TOUR ($5k value).

Gay Budapest Pride June 11 – 19, 2011

Budapest is unique, it has its own distinctive character and attractions.

The  Danube river flows gracefully and the two city parts, Buda and Pest welcome it with a warm embrace. Rather than dividing the city the Danube is in full harmony with the two parts, presenting Budapest with striking vistas.

The Hungarian capital is not too large and not too small. It has just the right size that makes it a pleasant place to live in and to discover. 2 million citizens it is the largest city in the country.

The city is often referred to as the Paris of the east, and deserves this name. It bears some resemblance to Prague, but is larger and friendlier.

Budapest has become a gay mecca in this part of Europe with many gay places. By day, you can visit museums, take a coffee in one of the cafes or visit gay sauna Magnum. By night you can have a dinner at either a cheap or a fancy restaurant and after go to the gay discos or bars.

Since the fall of the communist regime, a commercial gay infrastructure has grown up, though there is less of a sense of community than in other European countries. Nevertheless the very first gay youth group was founded recently and a Gay Pride Day in Budapest has been organized every year since 1997.

It is very exciting we will be there next month, covering the 16th Annual Budapest Gay Pride!  11-19 June @2011.  Earlier this year there were some legal problems that arose when the activities and routes had to be expanded – but everything has been worked out and things are moving along full speed ahead!

If you plan to visit, Budapest Pride site has a lot of information for visitors.

While gay life may not be quite the same as in Western Europe and North America, we may assure you that once you understand life the Magyar way, there is no limit to expressing who you are and can be in a tolerant, open and accepting Hungary.

So what exactly IS the Magyar way? Well…just as in the Hungarian language SZIA is hello and HELO can mean goodbye, things work in slightly different ways semantically in Hungary. So although in recent years new exclusively gay and lesbian venues have opened all over the city, there are places that have traditionally always attracted an alternative following, although they have never openly been advertised as such.

Take the Turkish baths, for instance, on “men-only” days. While not officially gay, they have for decades attracted a huge following of admirers of men-only nudist culture, the homo-eroticism of which may be tangible even for casual outside observers. And in the traditional Magyar scheme of things, such places may be far more enjoyable and relaxing than the crude meat market cruising rituals at Western-style gay saunas. The same applies to mixed nightclubs and cafes, almost all of which in Budapest are known to be highly tolerant, accepting and easygoing. Thus Hungary is radically different from the gay circuit party scene of Western Europe and North America, which is precisely its greatest charm and attraction.

GAY PRIDE HISTORY –

The idea of organizing the first gay festival came in the years following the political transition. However, the announcement of Hungary’s first Gay Pride in 1992 was in vain: the event was canceled because of lack of interest.

But the organizers didn’t give up. They started thinking about other kinds of gatherings, and they invited lesbians and gays to a picnic! Over the years the events have grown. In 1993 they had a film festival. BY the 2008 the film festival had become HUGE!  Never before had so many non-LGBT individuals and organizations participated in the march, which strongly signified their support for rights. Public figures and organizations reacted to the situation as well, and in the aftermath of the attacks several civil initiatives were launched, whose slogan became: “We’ve had enough of violence against minorities!”

Atlantic City Casino Gets a Gay Bar!

WAYNE PARRY of
The Associated Press

reports that For the first time in its 33-year history of legalized gambling, Atlantic City has a permanent gay nightclub in one of its casinos.

Prohibition opened its doors Thursday at the Resorts Casino Hotel, marking the city’s strongest bid yet in a yearslong effort to attract one of the tourism industry’s most sought-after demographic groups.

“It’s long overdue for Atlantic City to have a club like this,” said Joel Ballesteros, the casino’s new director of marketing for the lesbian-gay-bisexual-transgender communities. “It filled right up and people danced until 3 o’clock in the morning. With the rainbow flag flying outside and all the energy in here, it felt like a celebration.”

“A lot of casinos have done things for the gay and lesbian community, but never to this level,” he said. “They’d do a weekend or a night or hold a special event. But this is what this community wants and needs.”

Atlantic City has long been popular with gays, dating back before New Jersey’s first casino — Resorts — opened in 1978. John Schultz, a former city councilman and philanthropist, once owned nine gay clubs during the 1970s. Back then, he said, 250,000 gay visitors would come to Atlantic City on holiday weekends.

People think gays don’t gamble,” Schultz said. “That’s not true. They gamble. They drink. They like to travel. And they have that extra income. Why do cruise lines have gay weeks? Because 2,000 to 3,000 gay people who can afford it go on their ships. It’s a new world now.”

Previously reported here, The four Caesars Entertainment casinos in Atlantic City — Harrah’s Resort Atlantic City, Caesars Atlantic City, Bally’s Atlantic City and the Showboat Casino Hotel — have hosted “Out In Atlantic City” weekends in recent years, and the Trump Taj Mahal Casino Resort hosts “gay bingo” nights.

“I believe love is the most powerful force in the universe, and when you believe that, you have to welcome everyone,” he said. “You can’t say, ‘You’re not important enough to come to our facility during its peak periods.’ I want to embrace this community because I love them. I really do.”

GOING DOWN IN LA LA LAND with Casper Andreas and Matthew Ludwinski

 The MUST-SEE LGBT
Film in 2011  is
GOING DOWN IN LA LA LAND

Director Casper Andreas makes a departure from his previous films with “Going Down in La La Land”. It’s an adaptation of Andy Zeffer’s “slightly autobiographical” novel. Andreas is best known for his comedies “Slutty Summer” and “A Four Letter Word.”

A true New Yorker he captures the spirit of that city. He makes entertaining films that just so happen to be gay. They explore love and relationships with hilarious dialogue and a sense of whimsy and delight without leaning on typical gay tropes like gratuitous nudity and bad acting.

Not only is “Going Down in La La Land” set in Los Angeles but it also veers a little darker than Andreas’ earlier films. Adam (Matthew Ludwinski) is the epitome of “fresh meat.” He moves to LA with no job, headshot or clue. His best friend Candy (Allison Lane) is an aspiring actress who is a little long in the tooth but not lacking in enthusiasm. Unable to keep a job, he is lured into the world of porn by a sweet-talking photographer (Casper Andreas). He soon begins escorting and quickly falls in love with a high profile sitcom star John (Michael Medico). Life get dark fast and quickly slips out of his control.

Despite the somewhat dark themes of escorting and crystal meth abuse, there are some funny and delightful moments of the film. Andreas manages to capture the spirit of living in Los Angeles and its stunning and eccentric inhabitants. There’s hope and pathos in people trying their damndest to make a name for themselves. Like the source material, the film doesn’t give you what you would expect and has surprising and even tender fairy tale moments. There are even a few bitchy soap operatic lines just for good measure.

Ludwinski is realistic as the attractive yet simple goober that is easily led into a world of porn, drugs and prostitution. Andreas shows his acting versatility with his realistic and eerie portrayal of a crystal meth addict. The star of the film is by far Allison Lane who steals every scene as the definitive deluded actress. She’s willing to do anything to pay her rent and to make it in Hollywood except get a job. Embrem Pictures regular Jesse Archer makes a departure from his fun and frisky Luke character to play Adam’s bitchy boss Matthew. However, sadly he is not around half as much as he needed. There are also hilarious cameos by Judy Tenuta, Perez Hilton, Bruce Villanch and Alec Mapa.
