Gay Fort Worth Texas - NOT SO Gay Friendly

When you think of Texas, you don't really think of a Mecca for Gays! However, WE ARE EVERYWHERE. And Gay Fort Worth has got its own gay rodeo, gay and lesbian film festival and lively gay scene.
As the 19th largest city in America, Fort Worth does not have as much to offer as its popular neighbor, but if history and rodeo are of interest, by all means.
Over GAY PRIDE weekend, Fort Worth police raided a new gay bar in a move reminiscent of the Stonewall Raid that sparked the modern gay rights movement in 1969.
The newly opened Rainbow Lounge was hosting a birthday celebration for Todd Camp, the founder of Q Cinema, and screening documentaries about the Stonewall Riots to commemorate the 40th anniversary of one of the defining moments in LGBT history. Witnesses say the police showed up with a paddy wagon and began to roughly arrest men, focusing mainly on "effeminate men."
One bar patron, Chad Gibson, is in a local hospital with a fractured skull and brain hemorrhage after being "choked, pulled back, then slammed into a wall" by police during the raid. Police say he was resisting arrest and made "sexual advances to officers", a claim witnesses dismiss as outright lies. They say Gibson, who weighed "maybe 160 pounds soaking wet", did not resist and merely stumbled when police grabbed him by the arm.
In total, seven people were arrested for public intoxication and at least a dozen more were restrained.
Mayor Mike Moncrief apologized for a raid on a gay bar that sparked claims of brutality and procedure violations after several members of a gay rights group were escorted out of a City Council meeting last night.
Moncrief told the meeting neither the TABC nor police had finished investigations into the raid, which initially had been called a routine license inspection. But the mayor said he has asked the U.S. Attorney's Office to review the department's findings.
