Divers Cite - Gay Montreal Unique LGBT Events


MONTREAL is an amazing city!

Perhaps best known for its famous BLACK AND BLUE Party. DIVERS/CITE is also gaining a huge following.

Divers/Cité  is a GLBT event whose mission is to present arts and music festival that illustrates and celebrates the value of diversity in a spirit of sharing, solidarity and openness with the world. Seventeen years of constant growth and expansion has established Divers/Cité as an internationally recognized festival. 

Most of the programming is outdoor and free. The programming also follows set themes that cover a wide range of artistic tendencies that address widely varying audiences. The event proudly showcases Modern dance, Blues, Jazz, Pop, Latin, Rock, World, Funk, Ambient, Techno and Electronic concerts, Drag queen performances, an outdoor cinema and a photo exhibition. The 2009 edition, from July 26th to August 2nd, will offer more than 55 hours of free outdoor performances spanning 7 consecutive days.  We are so very proud to claim that our event produces the longest running free outdoor programming of any gay event in the world. 

Some of the signature annual Divers/Cité  productions are La Grande Danse, Mascara la nuit des Drag, Sex Garage, and New Society.
 

 Two of their signature shows have established worldwide recognition.  Mascara, la nuit des drags, the biggest drag show on earth, is put on by over 100 artists during a whopping 5 hours of non stop surprises.

La Grande Danse is the most impressive dance event on the North-American continent offering up to 11 hours of multimedia backed music and beats from cutting edge worl reknowned djs.  

Past invited artists and performers include Samantha Fox, Martha Wash, Kevin Aviance, RuPaul, Joey Arias, Ashley MacIsaac, Deborak Cox, Henning Von Berg, MazzImage, Los Amigos Invisibles, Lila Downs, Ballet Jazz de Montréal, Grands Ballets Canadiens,The Gossip, The Organ, Gravy Train, Lady Miss Kier, Vive la fête, Kids on TV, Peter Rauhofer, Billy Carroll, Hex Hector, David Knapp, Tracy Young, Angel Moraes, Alain Vinet, Offer Nissim, and Ana Paula. 

Divers/Cité organized the first Montreal LGBT pride celebrations. From 1993 to 2006 the Divers/Cité event had three componants : the pride parade, the community fair and the arts festival.

Following the amazing advancements of our society towards the LGBT communities and also after having analysed on site client research, the organizing comittee moved forward with a vison of creating two distinct public LGBT events in Montreal : one event concentrating on communty development and the other event to be developed into a full fledge arts and music festival.
 

Divers/Cité  is proud of having produced for fourteen years the Célébrations de la fierté LGB2T de Montréal and  to have contributed to the social evolutions of our society.
